Shutters add classic elegance to any home and are one of the most popular choices for window coverings in the Bay Area. If you’re thinking about having shutters installed in your home, you may have some questions. We’ve listed out the most frequently asked questions we get from our clients. Let us know if you have others!
Q: What are plantation shutters?
A: Plantation shutters (sometimes called plantation blinds) are interior shutters. It’s believed that they’ve been around since the fifteenth century in Greece. Each shutter panel is constructed with louvers measuring 2 ½, 3 ½, or 4 ½ wide. These window coverings offer elegance to any room in your home and can be installed almost anywhere. Consider adding them to your kitchen, dining room, living room, bedrooms, bathrooms, and den.
Q: What are the ordering steps?
A: Decide which rooms you’d like shutters in. Have us come to your location and we will take the measurements. From there we will manufacture your shutters in our state-of-the-art facility in San Jose, CA. Manufacturing takes four weeks.
Q: How much do shutters cost?:
A: Just like any window covering, the cost of shutters depends on the size and number of windows. The louver width will also affect the price. Once we do the measuring, we will give you a written informative estimate.
Q: How do I get my shutter estimate?
A: Contact us and we’ll schedule a time to come out and measure your windows. One of our team members will come to your project site, office, or home. That’s a great time to ask us any additional questions you may have. We can also show you samples for shutter-style options.
Q: How do I figure out the shutter measurements?
A: Our professional measurement and installation service ensures you get exactly what you want and that it’s the perfect fit. We take exact measurements to ensure your shutters will fit perfectly and look beautiful.
Q: What are shutters made of?
A: All of our shutters are made from basswood (also known as linden). These trees are renowned for their sturdy trunks. Since the texture of the wood is fine, the finish comes out smooth. This wood is superior to composite materials or pine. Since the material is lightweight – it resists warping, cracking, delaminating, or splitting. Shutters made of basswood are easier to install, and the final product looks superior.
Q: Can I order a special color?
A: Yes you can. When we come to measure, we can show you our 12 standard colors. If you’d like something different we’d be happy to match your color sample. We use a high-tech computer mixing technology to match your sample, so you get exactly what you want.
Q: Do you offer custom shapes and sizes?
A: At A Saberi Interiors we provide custom personalized service to create exactly what you want. Whether you have a custom opening, sliding glass doors, angle, or archtop we can build a shutter to fit perfectly. We can also make suggestions on what would be the best louver width for each window and room.
Q: What width louvers do the shutters come in?
A: Shutter louver widths come in three sizes: 2 ½, 3 ½, and 4 ½. Depending on the size of the window, we can suggest the best width. Some louvers offer more privacy — and others let more sunlight in.
Q: How long until my shutters are installed?
A: From the time that we accept your order it takes 4 weeks for us to manufacture them and have them ready for installation. For an additional fee, we can accommodate rush orders. When your shutters are complete, we’ll contact you to schedule installation.
Q: What areas do you service?
A: We service the greater San Francisco Bay Area including Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, Daly City, Foster City, Half Moon Bay, Los Altos, Menlo Park, Millbrae, Mountain View, Pacifica, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Carlos, and San Mateo.
